Happy Patriot’s Day! We’re in the second year of not having the marathon to watch today, but I love that the organization is still making sure that this weekend is special for all of the participants. It’s one of the many reasons that I love the Boston Athletic Association so much.
So yesterday my mom and I ran the 5K, at a rail trail in Winchendon, MA. I had been loosely training these past couple of months and I’m so happy that it paid off: I ran the distance in under 10 minute miles! I hadn’t seen times like that since before Lincoln was born. Shoot, maybe even before Eleanor was born!
The weather was also absolutely beautiful yesterday. So much so that I was nervous the rail trail would be packed. Thankfully we only passed about half a dozen people along the way. My mom and I stayed together for pretty much the entire way (there were a couple of times where we would pass each other and only be a few paces ahead).
The trail itself was fairly flat, but there were a couple of sections where it was a gradual uphill. We were still able to complete it without walking. I always seem to run better when I’m with my mom.
Overall, a fantastic run with my wonderful mom.
Are you running any virtual races this year?
