I have been meaning to share these pictures for almost two years now but somehow never got around to it.
In August of 2018, David and I took a week long vacation to explore a bit more of the east coast states. Our plan was to visit Chicago, Louisville and Nashville and whatever we encountered in between. In total, we traveled through:
Massachusetts | New York | Pennsylvania | Ohio | Indiana | Illinois | Kentucky | Tennessee | Virginia | West Virginia | Maryland | New Jersey | Connecticut
Since we’re so far removed from when this happened, I can’t recall the day to day activities, but still wanted to share these pictures with you. Some are from my camera phone, others with my DSLR.
NEW YORK
“John’s Pizza and Wings” in Grand Island, New York. The best little pepperoni bowls!
CHICAGO
The Bean at Millennium Park | Giordano’s Deep Dish Pizza | Riverwalk | Navy Pier | Hot dog at Portillo’s | Cocktails at The Drifter
LOUISVILLE
Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory
TENNESSEE
Parthenon | Jack Cawthon’s Bar-B-Que | Cascade Hollow Distillery | Fall Creek Fall’s State Park
West Virginia
Harpers Ferry – I was actually really surprised with how much we loved HF! It’s pretty much a town frozen in time and one giant museum. With its location between two rivers, it flooded so many times that the inhabitants just up and left. It has become the unofficial halfway point of the Appalachian Trail and caters to the day- and through-hikers.
And those are the road trip highlights! I’m hoping that, as a family, we can make it out to the central and western states. I still need to see Colorado and Oregon!
