Before I left work on Friday afternoon, one of my co-workers asked if I wanted two passes to the Stone Zoo. The catch though? They expired on Sunday, July 1st! I, of course, said yes and this ended up being a perfect weekend since David and I had nothing planned.
We arrived a little after 10AM on Saturday and the crowds were very minimal. I don’t know if it’s because we got there early enough or because it was hot outside. Probably a little bit of both.
Although the zoo isn’t very big (26 acres), we were surprised at the variety of the animals they had (you won’t find the big ones here though: lions, giraffes, elephants). I didn’t have the intention of photographing every animal (and I didn’t) but I was really having too much fun with my new lens. There’s still so much I need to learn!
The condition of the zoo could have been better; it looked like some of the animal enclosures were a bit overgrown and the exhibits just looked worn down. It was still a very enjoyable afternoon, and made me realize just how much I enjoy going to the zoo.
And it was the first time for Eleanor. I know she wasn’t entirely sure of what was going on, but I very much enjoy exposing her to these fun outings. And I can’t wait to see her expressions when she starts to grasp everything around her.
I definitely appreciated the fact that David indulged in my photo needs. How could I not take pictures of her in wagons and looking at the animals?? She’s so cute!
Apparently she was getting annoyed with it though.
That face!
